There is a problem about being a harpist : \u00ab\u00a0Are you sure the audience will hear you?\u00a0\u00bb, or : \u00ab\u00a0Really? There is enough repertory for the harp to perform an hour and a half?\u00a0\u00bb There is also the best of all \u00a0\u00bb an hour and a half… nothing but harp? Are not you afraid that the audience would get bored?\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

That is because she was tired to hear the everlasting fame sticking to her instrument that Claire Galo-Place started at the age of 15 a pure solo performer carreer to promote the virtuoso repertory of the harp. At that time, she was getting her gold medal in harp performance in the class of\u00a0 Annie Desmarets in the conservatory of Douai, and she was just starting a degree with Frederique Cambreling (Boulez’s Ensemble Intercontemporain) in Paris. After Paris, Claire Galo-Place entered the class of B\u00e9atrice Guillermin ( Garde R\u00e9publicaine Orchestra). In 2001, Claire Galo-Place won the Scholarship \u00a0\u00bb Bourse Lavoisier\u00a0\u00bb from the French Governement to follow her studies under the tutelage of Mrs Susan McDonald, in the prestigious Indiana University of Bloomington. Only a few months after she had gotten her Master Degree in Harp Performance, she was prize winner if the International Nippon Harp Competition\u00a0 (Japan). Since then, she played in many great festivals and venues: Festival Les classiques de Villars (Suisse), Festival Etonnant Romantiques of Combourg (France), Festival Albert Roussel (Belgium), Church Saint-Julien le Pauvre (Paris), Festival Musique en Vivarais-Lignon, Festival Sillons de Culture, Antique theater of Sabratah ( Lybia)… But Claire is not the type of performer looking to play in greater and greater venues. She enjoys bring her harp where is does not go usually: she toured twice on Carribean islands that a classical harp had never touched before.<\/p>\n

Always wanting to show the public that the harp is something else than that big stange form at the rear of the orchestra, Claire is always pushed to reveal the\u00a0 large palet of sound possibilities of the harp and its repertory. On one side, she likes to bring back to light forgotten composers or pieces: she founded in\u00a0 2008 the \u00ab\u00a0Ensemble Jean Cras\u00a0\u00bb to performe the works of this composer for flute, violin, viola, cello and harp.<\/p>\n

On another side, Claire Galo-Place likes to work with composers to enlarge the repertory of her instrument:\u00a0 She premiered in 2012 Omar Yagoubi’s Toccata. She is preparing right now the world wide premier of a concerto and a solo piece from Caio Senna ( Brazil) as well as a concerto and a quintet for strings and harp from Fran\u00e7oise Choveaux ( France).<\/p>\n

Her first album \u00ab\u00a0Solo, the great works of the virtuoso harp\u00a0\u00bb had a great succes and she is currently preparing two solo albums : \u00ab\u00a0Black Swan\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0Embarquement pour Cyth\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb
